Stellar Edge 0.0.50 Released

On schedule for 2011 ARRP here is the 0.0.50 Alpha release for Stellar Edge. I added all the different planet type templates instead of just the ice planet template as had been available before.

  • Crystalized Planet

    Note the lava. It doesn’t do anything but act as a blocking object for now.

    The caves located on various planets take you to a planet themed cave. Note all caves are just the same old boring design for now – just different colors.

    This release is a bit lacking in content but it’s pretty much because I’m thinking about moving on to an Old West themed rougelike. There don’t seem to be any at all of those anyways. Making random events for all these damn planets and creatures would take forever anyways. We’ll see though. Enjoy!

    1. Just found out about Stellar Edge, and you’re looking good so far. I’m a big fan of Prospector, so it’s really cool to see more projects in the same “genre”. Please keep going with this!

      I have to ask, though, I can’t seem to figure out how to get off a planet. Standing on my ship and pushing “<" doesn't do it, and neither do any of the other keys (apparently). Is that a bug, or not implemented yet, or did I just miss something glaringly obvious, or what?

    2. The Windows download set off the virus snooper on my workstation. Now I got the IT department down my neck asking annoyingly uncomfortable questions about my internet usage -_-

      Deon I’m probably one of the worst spellers in the world.

      I think I’m putting Stellar Edge on hold for a bit – I have a good working western RL in the works that I’m going to start releasing soon.

    7. This game gas awesome elements. I love the graphical representation of the plantes, it has a really great atmosphere.

      But the most favourite part is the levelling system! It’s what I missed in Prospector.

      A couple of suggestions: check the description of the smuggling skill, it has a typo. Also it would be great if you could also use the numpad-Enter as an enter too.

    8. I for one appreciate this project. It has a lot of potential to even be better than prospector in the future (magellan himself admits the codebase he started with is a bit limiting).

      On the other hand, a wild west Roguelike would definitely be awesome too! There just aren’t enough old west games in general.
